History
of Charlottes Dealership Alternative to Quality Car Care
In
1962, Woodie Enterprises, Inc. began as a single service station owned by Ernest
Woodie. This station was located on Independence Blvd. at Albemarle Road and was
branded as an Esso station. This location was moved in 1971 to the Midtown area
and renamed Charlottetown Exxon. From this one store operation it has grown under
the leadership of Mr. Woodie's two sons. Mike joined the operation in 1973 and
Brad in 1985.
The first addition was in 1986 with Central Ave.
Exxon Car Care; this location was moved in October 2001 to E. Independence Blvd.
and renamed to WE Care Auto & Tire. The next addition was Sharon Exxon West
in 1998; this was followed by Ashley Road Auto & Tire in January 2002. It
was decided in September of 2003 to organize all the locations under the Woodie's
Auto Service and Repair Centers. Several additional locations have been opened
since that time, Woodie's Auto Service / Uptown in October 2003; Woodie's Auto
Service / Midtown in January 2004 and a European Specialty Facility Woodie’ Auto
Service / PAS in October 2007.
In addition to the automotive
repair facilities Woodie Enterprises also owns and operates (1) BP; (1) Exxon
and (4) Shell convenience stores as well as a Deli / Convenience Store located
in Uptown Charlotte.
The Woodie Family wishes to sincerely
“Thank You” for the over 42 years of patronage you, our customers have shown us.
We have many second generation customers and even repair the automobiles of a
number of third generation customers. It has been a rewarding experience being
so tightly woven into the fabric of the Dilworth/ Myers Park Communities. The
Woodie Family greatly appreciates the confidence
you have placed in us over the years. This confidence has translated into many
referrals of your family, friends and neighbors, enabling us to expand our automobile
repair business with several others locations with the same high ethical code
that the Woodie Family has built its’ reputation on. As many of you know Midtown
area’s iconic Charlottetown Exxon closed December 23, 2005. Our Exxon was the
last business on Kings Drive to fall prey to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway Project,
although it will not be a gas station Charlottetown is back. We are opening a
new repair service facility right around the corner from our old Kings Drive location.
We felt it was only fitting since it is located at 1024 Charlottetowne Ave. it
be named after Charlottetown Exxon. The name is very special to us for the history
and the quality service and repair standards it represents. We are proud to welcome
our newest location to the family; Woodie’s Auto Service Charlottetown. It is
scheduled to open in early October 2008, please stop in and visit as the tradition
in service continues.
